Clarifying Expectations

The work I do with companies from IT Service Providers to Retailers has one thing in common – Management are focused on results. Results are achieved through many actions, tasks and activities.

The common challenge Management have is how to manage and measure the actions, tasks and activities that need to be done to achieve the results.

The common challenge that staff members have is knowing what these actions, tasks and activities are.

The questions to ask:

  1. What is the company trying to do?
  2. Who is doing what?
  3. When do they need to do it by?
  4. How are they doing it?

The answers to these questions need to be housed in the Company’s vision statement, departmental mission statements and objectives, individual job profiles, and a practical performance management system.

Clear expectations offers you:

  1. An objective way of managing individual team members
  2. The ability for individuals to manage their time due to clear priorities
  3. A framework for identifying areas of growth and development
  4. Structure per individual, per department and for the company as a whole

We can only deliver when we are crystal clear on what is

expected.
